Due to reasons outside our control, from October 1st our out-of-hours service will be delivered via Wiltshire Medical services (based at Chippenham) and not from WILCODOC. Essentially the service will remain the same - patients will have their problem assessed by a nurse over the telephone and either appropriate advice for that problem will be given, the patient will be visited at home or the patient will asked to attend an out-of-hours centre to see the doctor.
The out-of-hours service will run from 1830 to 0800 weekday nights and from 1830 Friday to 0800 Monday.
The new telephone number is 01249 456530.
Since the last newsletter, we welcome the following staff:
Sharon Weinstein (Counselling Psychologist) also returns from maternity leave.
The following staff have now left:
We wish them well in their new jobs.
Please remember that no repeat prescription requests will be accepted over the 'phone. Written requests can either be posted, left at reception, faxed or emailed (prescriptions@thecastlepractice.co.uk) Please allow 2 working days for the repeat prescription to be issued.
The 'flu season is approaching. Please book in at reception for a jab. We will be mainly be running clinics on some Saturdays in October and November. We are especially targeting patients who are over 65 years old, those with chronic diseases (such as Asthma, Chronic bronchitis or Emphysema, Diabetes, Coronary Heart disease) and those who are on Immunosuppresant drugs (such as longterm steroids) or have had their spleen removed.
Our new surgery in Tidworth is currently being built and making good progress. We hope to be able to move there in the early part of 2005 but will inform everyone nearer the time. In the meantime, Elm House surgery will operate as usual.
Due to the change in out-of-hours arrangements from 1st October, the surgery opening and closing times will alter slightly.
Details of where each doctor will be are available on the new timetable on the web site. These may vary occasionally depending on leave/absence
There has been a slight reduction in missed appointments for this quarter - 4.3% for doctors and 4.9% for nurses. This compares to 4.3% and 7.0% respectively for the previous quarter. However, these figures could still be better - please do not forget to contact the surgery if you cannot attend so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.
These clinics are now starting for the following chronic diseases:
Patients have or will be contacted to attend these important clinics to check your general health and review your medication.
Once again, The Castle Practice would like to sincerely thank all those who have been kind enough to donate money and equipment to the Practice. All of the money has been or will be used to purchase new equipment fro the Practice, both in Ludgershall and Tidworth.
