There have been several changes since the last newsletter:
Our Senior Partner, Dr Richard Wells, retired in June after 30 years of service at the practice. Of course he will be greatly missed by colleagues and patients alike. His list has not been transferred to one individual doctor and therefore his registered patients are free to see a doctor of their choice within the practice and, if possible, to continue seeing that doctor thereafter. Of course, you are free to see any other doctor at any time if you would prefer.
Drs Heather Willson, Rebecca Selman and Louise Wallington have all joined the practice. They are all experienced GPs - their profiles can be found on the website.
Drs Fiona Dawe and Sally Dangerfield have both relocated to other areas. We wish them well.
There has been a general re-organistion of the staff in order to keep abreast of the ever-changing state of Primary Care. For instance, we have now have a dedicated IT department!
As from 15th September we now have several surgeries during the week that run outside of normal working hours (Starting at 0700 and finishing at 2000). These are for routine appointments only. Please contact Reception for further information.
Once again, the time for 'flu jabs is upon us! All "at risk" groups will be contacted and invited to attend in October and November. Anyone not in these groups who would still like a 'flu jab can contact the surgery. They will be added onto a list to attend a clinic once the "at risk" groups have been treated. Again, please contact Reception for further details.
Although the number of "persistent offenders" has reduced, the total number of missed appointments remains unacceptably high due to the large number of pepole missing just one appointment. One missed appointment in itself is not a major problem but when they are all added together the total is high. Therefore anyone missing one or more appointments will be contacted. Please remember to contact the surgery as soon as possible if you cannot attend as they will always be filled by someone else!
Once again, the practice would like to openly thank everyone who has sent in donations to the practice (no matter how small). It is all very much appreciated and the money is used to buy or update medical equipment for the practice. For instance, the emergency equipment for both surgeries has been renewed and we are about to purchase equipment for emergency training as well.
