Our practice nurses have surgeries by appointment and are present at clinics. They are available for advice or special procedures. If you would like to be seen please book at reception or by telephone.
They are generally available at Ludgershall 9.00am - 6.00pm and at Tidworth 9.30am - 5.00pm both Mon - Fri.
Amongst other work they help with:
The District Nurses visit those who are housebound for nursing purposes. Usually this means the elderly, chronically sick or those who have recently had operations. They can advise you about incontinence or other home nursing aids. Please ask a receptionist or your doctor to discuss or arrange home nursing care. The District Nurses may be contacted via via Access to Care on 01722 425166.
The Health Visitors have an office in both practice buildings. They can give advice on health care especially for expectant mothers, the under-fives, elderly, handicapped and may be a source of information for various medical and social problems.
The Health Visitors are usually in the office from 9.00am - 9.30am and can be contacted on 01264 793915 for Ludgershall, or 01980 846739 for Tidworth, where you call may be answered by an answering machine.
Please try to telephone or call after 3.00pm to confirm that results of blood tests, x-rays etc have been received.
Give you full name, address and the date on which the test was carried out.
Allow five full days before making enquiries. Some tests may take longer.
Receptionists are not permitted to give out results of tests without the Doctor's permission.
For absence from work through sickness a 'self-certifying sick certificate' is currently valid for the first six working days. The sick certificate (form SCI) is available from your employer or the post office. We do not normally issue doctors' certificates for this time. If a private certificate to cover absence from work is required a fee is charged.
After the first week, certificates are obtained as part of a consultation with your doctor. If you are under the care of a hospital doctor you may ask them to issue your certificate for an in patient stay or at an outpatient appointment.
Medical examinations and certificates for special purposes e.g. driving medicals, food handling, pre-employment, insurance medicals etc. can be arranged by appointment. These are not part of your doctor's NHS duties and therefore a fee may be charged.
Hospital Transport is only arranged through the Doctors in the case of medical need. Please make a request for transport to your surgery reception. Two working days notice are needed for transport to be booked.
A full range of contraceptive services is provided by the doctors during surgery hours or in the well woman clinic. IUCD (coil) fitting is by prior arrangement after discussion with a doctor.
Please remember that coil checks should be carried out annually.
We generally suggest that cervical smears are done every three years between the ages of twenty and sixty five. If you feel your appointment is overdue, please check with the practice. The test can be done either in surgery or well woman clinic by appointment.
When you register as a new patient it may be some time before we receive your medical records. We ask that all patients registering with the practice make an appointment for a new patient registration check so that we may obtain details of your past medical history; any current needs and medication and perform a simple health check.
These can be provided by appointment with the Practice Nurse. Please allow at least two weeks prior to your travel abroad. The Practice is also a licensed centre for Yellow Fever vaccinations. Certain vaccines need to be charged for - please enquire about these when booking your appointment.
Advice about Malaria tablets can also be given. The tablet varies depending on your destination. Your doctor or nurse can provide you with the information or check http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/.
