Services

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses have surgeries by appointment and are present at clinics. They are available for advice or special procedures. If you would like to be seen please book at reception or by telephone.

They are generally available at Ludgershall & Tidworth 9.00am - 5.00pm, Mon - Fri.

Amongst other work they help with:

District Nurses

The District Nurses visit those who are housebound for nursing purposes. Usually this means the elderly, chronically sick or those who have recently had operations. They can advise you about incontinence or other home nursing aids. Please ask a receptionist or your doctor to discuss or arrange home nursing care. The District Nurses may be contacted via via Access to Care on 01980 625340.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors have an office in both practice buildings. They can give advice on health care especially for expectant mothers, the under-fives, elderly, handicapped and may be a source of information for various medical and social problems.

The Health Visitors can be contacted on 01264 793915 for Ludgershall, or 01980 846739 for Tidworth, where you call may be answered by an answering machine.

Enquiries about results

Please try to telephone or call after 3.00pm to confirm that results of blood tests, x-rays etc have been received.

Give you full name, address and the date on which the test was carried out.

Allow five full days before making enquiries. Some tests may take longer.

Receptionists are not permitted to give out results of tests without the Doctor's permission.

Medical Certificates

For absence from work through sickness a 'self-certifying sick certificate' is currently valid for the first seven working days. The sick certificate (form SCI) is available from your employer or the post office. We do not normally issue doctors' certificates for this time. If a private certificate to cover absence from work is required a fee is charged.

After the first week, certificates are obtained as part of a consultation with your doctor. If you are under the care of a hospital doctor you may ask them to issue your certificate for an in patient stay or at an outpatient appointment.

Non NHS Examinations and Certificates

Medical examinations and certificates for special purposes e.g. driving medicals, food handling, pre-employment, insurance medicals etc. can be arranged by appointment. These are not part of your doctor's NHS duties and therefore a fee may be charged.

List of fees for non-NHS services.

Transport for Hospital Appointments

Hospital Transport is only arranged through the Doctors in the case of medical need. Please make a request for transport to your surgery reception. Two working days notice are needed for transport to be booked.

Family Planning (Contraception)

A full range of contraceptive services is provided by the doctors during surgery hours or in the well woman clinic. IUCD (coil) fitting and contraceptive implant fitting is by prior arrangement after discussion with a doctor.

Please remember that coil checks should be carried out annually.

Cervical Smear Tests

We generally suggest that cervical smears are done every three years between 25-50 years of age and every five years from 50-65. If you feel your appointment is overdue, please check with the practice. The test can be done either in surgery or with a nurse by appointment.

New Patient Medicals

When you register as a new patient it may be some time before we receive your medical records. We ask that all patients registering with the practice make an appointment for a new patient registration check so that we may obtain details of your past medical history; any current needs and medication and perform a simple health check.

"Smoke Stop" Clinic

This is a weekly support clinic for those that actively wish to stop smoking. A walk-in clinic is at Ludgershall surgery on Tuesday from 1700-1830 and bookable appointments are also available at Tidworth (please ring the surgery to arrange a suitable time).
