For most countries outside Europe or North America, you would need to be up-to-date with tetanus, Hepatitis A and Typhoid.
Yellow Fever is needed for much of Africa and South America. We are a recognised and registered centre for this vaccine.
Other vaccinations which are sometimes needed are Rabies, Meningococcal ACWY, Japanese encephalitis and tick-borne encephalitis.
Malaria prevention is vital in much of Asia, Africa and South America. Anti-malarial tablets are available on a private prescription.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website gives good up-to-date information about travel health and safety abroad. Other uselful advice about travel and vaccinations can be found on Fit for Travel.
Please note that many travel vaccines and all malaria tablets are not covered on the NHS and therefore there will be charge to give these. A list of charges (accurate from June 2010) is shown below.
Please can you attend for travel advice at least 6 weeks prior to a straightforward trip but 3 months if you are going on an extended or complex trip to several countries. This enables us to order the vaccine (if necessary) and to give it you in time so that it will be effective by the time you leave.
