Children and Young People’s Counselling

Free on-line counselling  is available from Kooth for anyone aged 11 – 20 who live in Wiltshire.  The service is available 12 noon – 10 p.m. on weekdays and 6 – 10 p.m. at weekends.  For more information, click on this link:  Kooth on-line counselling

On Kooth you are able to read articles that have been written by other young people.  You are also able to write in a daily journal to express how you are feeling.  Kooth aims to keep the service confidential.  Kooth ensures that the conversations you have with staff are not discussed with anyone else unless they feel you are at risk or in danger.  Where this is the case, they will talk to you about whether services outside of Kooth will be necessary in order to gain a better understanding of how you can be helped.

Face-to-face counselling:  Relate offer a counselling service for 7 to 18 year olds called “Talk Zone” and it is for any young person who needs a little support.  Counselling can help no matter what is on your mind.  If it is is bullying, your parents splitting up, arguments with friends, or you are just feeling a bit low, they are there to help you deal with it.

When you see a counsellor, you’ll have a chance to chat about what is on your mind.  They won’t judge you or tell you what to think or do, and they won’t look down on you because you are young.  They’ll respect you and listen to what you have to say.  They will not tell anyone what you talk about (for example a parent or doctor) unless you have said it’s OK.

If you are 13 – 18 years old, it is free.  You can make your own appointment or as a family member or friend to help you.  If you are aged 7 to 12 years old, there is a charge.  Your parent or adult carer would need to contact Relate to make the appointment.  For those experiencing financial difficulty, there is a bursary fund they may access.

the nearest locations for “Talk Zone” are Devizes and Trowbridge.  To find out all about it, and to see video of Jack talking about his experience, try the link below
